The Technology Director is responsible for defining and executing technology vision, ensuring that technology becomes a key driver of business growth, operational excellence, innovation, and customer experience. The Technology Director leads the Bank's technology transformation by modernizing platforms, strengthening engineering capabilities, accelerating digital product delivery, and ensuring resilient, secure, and scalable technology operations.
The Technology Director partners closely with business leaders to translate strategic priorities into technology solutions that support the Bank's digital transformation agenda while maintaining the highest standards of security, regulatory compliance, reliability, and service quality.

Key Responsibilities

Technology Strategy & Leadership

• Develop and execute the Bank's long-term technology strategy aligned with business objectives.
• Lead enterprise technology transformation initiatives and modernization of the Bank's technology landscape.
• Build a technology organization capable of supporting rapid innovation while maintaining operational stability.
• Advise the Executive Team on emerging technologies, industry trends, and strategic technology investments.
• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, continuous learning, and engineering excellence.

Digital Transformation

• Drive the Bank's digital transformation roadmap and technology modernization initiatives.
• Lead the transition from legacy systems toward modern, scalable, API-driven, cloud-enabled architectures where appropriate.
• Accelerate automation, digitization, and simplification of internal processes.
• Promote the adoption of AI, data-driven decision making, automation, and emerging technologies to improve customer and employee experiences.
• Ensure technology enables faster product development and improved time-to-market.

Engineering & Technology Delivery

• Lead software engineering, enterprise architecture, infrastructure, cloud platforms, DevOps, quality assurance, and technology operations.
• Establish modern software engineering practices including Agile, DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing, and engineering quality standards.
• Improve delivery speed, system reliability, and platform scalability.
• Ensure technology architecture supports future business growth and innovation.
• Oversee technology project execution, prioritization, and resource allocation.

Technology Operations & Resilience

• Ensure high availability, resilience, performance, and reliability of all technology platforms.
• Maintain effective IT service management and operational excellence.
• Strengthen disaster recovery, business continuity, system monitoring, and incident management capabilities.
• Define and monitor technology performance metrics and service-level objectives.

Financial & Vendor Management

• Develop and manage the technology budget.
• Optimize technology investments to maximize business value and efficiency.
• Lead strategic vendor selection, contract negotiations, and technology partnerships.
• Ensure effective governance of outsourced technology services.

Leadership & People Development

• Build and develop high-performing technology teams.
• Attract, retain, and develop technology talent.
• Establish clear performance expectations and leadership accountability.
• Promote collaboration across Technology, Digital, Product, Operations, Risk, and Business teams.
• Champion an inclusive, innovative, and customer-centric technology culture.

Qualifications

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• MBA or postgraduate qualification is considered an advantage.
• 12+ years of progressive leadership experience in technology.
• Significant experience leading technology functions within banking, fintech, financial services, or similarly regulated industries.
• Demonstrated success leading enterprise-scale digital transformation initiatives.
• Proven experience modernizing technology platforms and engineering organizations.
• Experience managing complex technology portfolios and large multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong understanding of core banking systems, digital channels, payments, APIs, cloud technologies, cybersecurity, and enterprise architecture.
• Experience working with regulators and managing technology-related governance.
